fun fact: Samuel Jackson made his theater debut in "Mother Courage and Her Children" in 1980, but is probably not the "Mother" reference you're thinking of
Nice piece, though you lost me in the last sentence. Crank 2 rocks! A fine example of vulgar auteurism, along with Natural Born Killers, Bad Boys II, and yes, even Scarface
Oh, I enjoyed Crank and its sequel along with "Machete" and "Machete Kills", likewise "Shoot 'Em Up" and the pair of Smoking Aces films (fire the clown cannon!). But those all aired on a celebration of a certain class of cinematic exposition that I used to host called "Bad Movie Night". It's sort of the antithesis of what Theon Ultima does with his In Kino Veritas cerebral look at films - we mostly just enjoyed immersive vulgar auteurism, as you say, agreed at the end of the night "still better than Twilight" and adjourned until the next session.

You forgot the TV edit from Big Lebowski: “This is what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps!”
Legendary. I recall Major League being rife with credit dialogue censorship as well
Tired of these stanky monkeys on this mfer plane n shiet
